The staff at Ysgol Heulfan aim to work together to provide a happy, safe environment for all pupils to work and socialise in; we want our pupils to look forward to coming to school and to enjoy learning.
We will teach our pupils how to behave and how to treat each other. Our school motto is:
‘treat others as you like to be treated.’
We want all of our pupils to achieve and thus expect them to work hard and to try their best at all times. We have high expectations and want all of our pupils to succeed.
We endeavour to:
Work wholly within an ethos that celebrates achievement.
Create a learning environment in which all pupils are able to achieve their maximum potential.
Value our pupils equally but to also value each pupil’s right to achieve and succeed in different ways.
Provide an environment, which respects pupils’ dignity, encourages self-esteem, respect for others and situation-appropriate behaviour.
Promote a communicating environment, where all attempts regardless of method or mode are valued and positively reinforced.
Provide a variety of learning environments both within school and in the wider community.
Create opportunities for integration.
Plan for progression and ensure relevance and age appropriateness for individual pupils at different stages of their school careers.
Nurture the parent/professional partnership by regular and open consultation and communication.
Maintain a multi-professional approach in order to meet the holistic needs of our pupils.
Promote the pupils’ spiritual and moral development.
Foster respect for those with differing religious beliefs and ways of life and to develop an attitude which is opposed to discrimination against any person or group on grounds of socio-economic background, creed, ethnic origin, gender or disability.
Actively encourage the professional development of all staff.
Set high but appropriate standards for all.
Agreed in January 2006 – in consultation with pupils, staff and governors.
We believe that each child should attend school with pleasure, leave with regret and remember with pride.
